Ownio

Home inventory for insurance · Support

Photograph a room. Ownio names what it sees, estimates what it's worth, and turns the lot into a dated PDF your insurer will accept.

Common questions

It got the item wrong. Now what?
Tap it and correct it. Every field — name, brand, category, condition, value, quantity — is editable, and the estimate is meant as a first draft. Items the model was unsure about are marked Worth checking so you know where to look first.

Why is the brand sometimes blank?
Because Ownio only fills it in when the lettering is actually readable in the photograph. It will not guess a manufacturer from an object's shape or styling. A wrong brand in a claim document is far more damaging than an empty field, and you can always type it in yourself.

Do my photos go to the cloud?
No. Your inventory and every photograph stay in the app's own storage on your phone. The only thing that leaves is the single compressed photo you are scanning, at the moment you scan it, so the item can be identified — and it is not kept afterwards. Details are in the Privacy Policy. If you would rather nothing was sent at all, the pencil button beside the camera adds items by hand.

Are the values real appraisals?
No. They are AI-assisted estimates of second-hand replacement cost, prepared for documentation. They are not a certified appraisal and Ownio is not an insurance service. For jewellery, art and watches, get a professional appraisal — many policies sub-limit those categories.

Can I change the currency?
Yes, in Settings, and it is not tied to your phone's region — pick whichever currency your policy is written in. Note that Ownio does not convert: changing the setting changes the symbol, not the numbers you already recorded.

Where did my inventory go after I reinstalled?
It was on the device, so removing the app removed it. There is no cloud copy by design. Export the PDF and keep it somewhere other than the home it describes — an e-mail to yourself is enough.

How do I cancel the subscription?
Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple; write to us anyway if something went wrong.

I've run out of photographs.
A subscription includes a set number of photographs for AI identification each week — the app shows the number before you subscribe and counts down as you use them. Note that the unit is a photograph, not a tap: a burst capture sends four frames and spends four. The allowance refills at the start of each subscription week and does not roll over.

If you would rather not wait for the refill, Settings → Add photos buys more. Photographs you buy do not expire and are not reset by the weekly refill; they are spent only after the week's allowance is used up. Either way, everything you have already documented stays available and you can keep adding items by hand for nothing.

Separately, there is a coarse fair-use guard against a single installation hammering the service. It sits far above any honest use and you should never meet it; if you somehow do, it clears within the day.
